This very trek is aimed at those who don’t have much time, but want to tackle the mid-altitude mountain heights and get nearer to the High Atlas Peaks, spending a night camping in the wild.

This trek is a private tour, in other words, it will involve you, your family or your group of friends only, no-one else. It can therefore be fully tailored to your requirements and modified where necessary. Please don’t hesitate to discuss this with us.

Depending on the number of people in your group, the level of comfort you require and local availability, there is a possibility you could be asked to carry your personal effects or equipment that may be bulky, though not heavy, such as your sleeping bag or sleeping mat. However, in most cases, this won’t be necessary.


Day 1

Wild camping in the mountains in Berber country

• Transfer from Taroudant to Afensou: a chance to walk along a very scenic part of the route, as a warm-up!
• Break for lunch on one of our panoramic terraces at our guesthouse, Les Terrasses de l’Atlas
• Putting the final touches to your trekking preparations (sorting out luggage, etc.)
• Afternoon: tailor-made hike to one of the panoramic ridges overlooking our valley, most of the luggage being carried by donkey
• Setting up base for wild camping on one of the ridges
• A chance to walk further at high altitude, setting off for a round trip from the camp
• Barbecue and campfire
• Sleeping under canvas on the ridge

Day 2

Tamdousnous Gorges

• Another day fine-tuned to your requirements:  a walk round a gorge, past a few sheepfolds, then swimming in small waterfalls and the white waters of a fast-flowing stream, then following the stream up to its source through the fields and along irrigation channels
• Return mid-afternoon to Les Terrasses de l’Atlas
• Traditional local music with the family or neighbours
• Wood-fired hammam
• Dinner: a tasting menu of Berber traditional recipes
• Evening around the hearth
• Accommodation in our guesthouse, Les Terrasses de l’Atlas (rooms equipped with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, heating and a terrace)


Day 3

Return to Taroudant

• After breakfast, return by car to Taroudant
