An ideal base for trekking in the Moroccan mountains

The house (close-up view)

Our Berber house is situated on the outskirts of the village of Afensou, on its own on the mountain slopes and above the luxuriant valley (ideal for trekking in Morocco under your own steam!). It is just upstream from an underground spring, which is a strategic position for our fresh water supply, but also guarantees great swimming in the foaming torrent as it heads downwards!

The house is built out of earth and stone in pure Berber style, with flat earthen roofs supported by carved wooden beams. There are four floors, several inner courtyards and a number of galleries and terraces.

While it overlooks the wadi, fields and olive groves, it is itself overlooked by the three peaks of the High Atlas Mountains, which rise to over 3500 metres. The 180-degree panorama is imposing and an invitation to trek into the mountains (trek Morocco).

The gardens are constructed along rows of man-made terraces, where there are numerous aromatic plants and fruit trees.
