With us, meeting local people can’t be done by reservation! It just happens (but with a little bit of organisation even so!) …
- Call on the teacher with his/her class of pupils at the village primary school …
- One of our neighbours is a potter. He isn’t always there, but you couldn’t find a more interesting person to meet!
- Not to be missed on Sundays is the weekly souk at Imoulas, 7km from Les Terrasses de l’Atlas. Not a tourists’ stall and lots of photos that could have been taken a hundred or more years ago!
- We could visit a descendant of the last true local big chief. She lives quite simply in a small corner of her immense dwelling, though her teeth are … pure gold!
- It’s quite a surprise to meet Berber women at the end of the afternoon, when they head for the fields to pick plants for animal fodder. In this case, you mustn’t be in a hurry or chivvy them…
- Generally, heading out on an adventure towards one of the higher-altitude villages and getting an invitation, taking your time. These are the best moments, completely timeless …
